Trier

Last Sunday I was bored so I got in my rental car and drove to Trier about an hour away from here. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and was once a European Roman capital city. I found a parking space and just walked around for a couple hours. I ran across the Porta Nigra, the Roman Baths, the Cathedral of Trier, the Palace of Trier, and a few others. You can read about them at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trier. Here are some pictures. My plans for the next couple of weeks are to visit Switzerland by train tomorrow, then next weekend I am going to Prague with some friends, and possibly to Rome the following weekend.

  2. Hey Jeff,

This town is just what I imagined a German town to look like. Nancy and I want to visit your favorites in our 6 or seven days. Hopefully, you'll post a lot of pictures of Switzerland also. We've got our travel books and videos ready so we can follow you adventures and do our homework.

Let us know if you need anything shipped to you from the states.

    As ever,

    Gary

  3. One more comment. Little meaningless things interest me. If you enlarge your above picture of the Porta Nigra, the one with the girl walking in front, look at the second level of windows from the top and count over eight from the left. It looks like a small telescope in the window!
